Last Tuesday I had my first physical since I was 18. b has been telling me I should get my cholesterol checked basically since we met (which is when she first did), and I finally got around to it. As a bonus, I got my blood checked for STD's, which I guess is common place before getting married (since most wedding certificates ask you to certify that you have none or have disclosed yours). My cholesterol is fine and I am STD free, however getting the tests made me think a lot about how reticent I was to get them done. Not that I thought I was going to fail either of them, but what if I had? Natural responses to high cholesterol are a lifetime of drugs like lipitor or the equally terrible prospect of changing my diet to avoid such staples as bacon, butter and beer
†. Beer! I wonder what I would have done. I already exercise regularly. Maybe die young? Anyway this post is to celebrate not having to sacrifice life's little joys in favor of your health. Below enjoy a picture of of one of life's little joys.
† Not to take away from AID's patients not named Magic Johnson, I am sure that would be worse than giving up beer. It just wasn't my concern while awaiting my results.
