So after about a month and a half of training, I ran the Air Force 5k this past Friday (you may have noticed my times in the widget on the side of this blog). I was timing any runs I did over this period, and over the month before the race my 5k time went from 29:19 to 26:00, and my 1.07 mile time went from 8:30 to 7:39. On race day I guess I was a bit amped, because I destroyed my home course best time finishing at 24:30 (chip time) which put me at 104th place overall (out of 1800 participants) and 9th in my age group (30-34 male). My pre-training goal was to surpass 8 minute miles, which I did (7:54 average). I rewarded myself by putting away my watch (no more timed runs this Fall) and replacing my shoes. Here are the new kicks.
