The timescale of the tenure-track search process is agonizing. Schools at all levels have made offers in December. Others are currently inviting candidates for interviews. Others still have yet to begin reviewing applications. The result of this enormous timescale is that there is lots of time to watch other people get jobs and worry about your own search. Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to have some deadlines Oct 15th (and offers made Jan 10) and other deadlines Feb 28th!
