Skype fans eat your heart out. Google voice is here and is awesome. Currently free to call people in the US, Google now has computer to phone calling. If you have gmail, you already have this service. I used it today to call b from my office where I can't dial her long distance cell phone number (Ridiculous, certainly I should be able to call a long distance collaborator from my office. This needs to be fixed). Basically all computers these days have built in mic's and speakers, and most have camera's. It was totally easy. Here is a picture of the interface (which appears on top of your gmail inbox).
