A second post on Ghana -
My father is traveling from town to town setting up/monotoring the progress of micro loans, as well as looking for something for his church to sponsor. Many natural projects (clean water, food etc) are already taken by NGO's (Nonprofit Government Organizations). In fact, most of the billboards in Ghana are not advertising local businesses, but instead are for NGO's (apparently there are lots of these). So far the top candidate for his church is an elementary school (they would build one whose roof didn't leak). Here is a picture of the painted-on chalkboard at the current one.
Kind of puts in perspective the 'bad' facilities at US universities. Sure I can't control the heat, and the white boards don't erase. But they aren't spray-on blackboards painted on mud walls. Crazy.
