Worksheets

Recently I have been spicing up my classes (for me and to a lesser extent for my students) with worksheets. The highlights of my efforts this Fall are Family-Feud style games, as a sort of group quiz, and my Thanksgiving activity. As a part of the latter, I had the students draw a turducken. Although fun for me to look at while I graded, my students seem to have very little understanding of the turducken. All of their drawings were of turkeys with extra legs, which makes no sense. Why would a cross breed of three animals with two legs have more than two legs? Actual turduckens are just compilations of turkey chicken and duck meats, not living animals. Although.....

The turducken issue probably has to do with the popularization of the turducken by John Madden, via Thanksgiving day football. If you notice, he always serverd it after the game, and the bird always had a couple of extra legs.
