Blythe and I are getting used to chicago. We can take the train (in spite of the ridiculous construction the last two weekends). We have Illinois drivers' licenses and our car has Illinois plates. We have been to Giordano's. We have eaten deep dish pizza (its great). We have drank an Old style (its mediocre). We have also been having some more exciting adventures. Over the last two weekends, we have been to a Cubs game, the Field museum, a White Sox game, and the Redbull Flugtag. In case you aren't familiar, the Flugtag is a contest where teams of around 5 people built a glider. The team does some dance/skit, usually themed with their glider. Then some fraction of them jump of the platform, with one of them riding their pile of garbage, er I mean glider. For the most part it was pretty entertaining. I can't believe no one was killed.

We have been to both a cubs game and a sox game. Both games were great baseball. The cubs played the phillies, came from behind with a grand slam to win 6-4. For all you cubs fans out there, here is a pic.

The white sox played the angels, had to score in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings, then won with a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 15th. It was a great game, there were even fireworks. After these two experiences we have made our decision. We are sox fans.

Since it seems that the nation as a whole perfers the cubbies, I feel I should justify my decision. Here is my top ten reasons to prefer the Sox.
We live in South Chicago.Junior is the man.The Phillies are in the NL.There are no bad seats in US Cellular (Ours in Wrigley had a pole in front of them). You don't have to buy tickets from a scalper. The fans are better (no drunk frat boys yelling in our ears). The colors are better. It is way easier to get to (because half the fans drive, there is space on the red line to come home)Miller is better than bud (the official beers of the sox/cubs).Obama is a sox fan.You will notice that few of these actually have to do with the players. At this point I would feel like a phony if I said I really perfer one team over the other. I do like Jr., but really I don't know either team that well. In the end, it will be awhile before anyone can compete with the Fightin Phils. You don't change teams just because you change citites.
Ps - Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Wildcats, the same goes for y'all.

(Insert generic expression of disappointment here). Glad to hear you had fun at both games, but I guess can understand your Sox leanings, given where you live and your Phillies fandom. Have fun following the pennant race
