When I hit the Chi...

So its official. I now live in chicago. Our apartment is big and beautiful. (although it could use one more closet) We have a garage, and we can walk to the blue line (at Racine). I have cable tv and internet, and I can walk to a decent bar (the Drum and Monkey) and breakfast joint (Sweet Maple's). I work at a chicago school (UIC) but I am not a chicagoan. Here's why:

  • I root for the cubs to lose, I would rather read a book that watch the white sox.
  • I like my hotdogs plain, or with chilli and cheese, and most times I prefer a brat.
  • I look up when I walk through our local park, and marvel at the skyline.
  • I don't know anything about the metro or el or the difference between the two.
  • I have a wisconsin drivers license and plates.

Someday most of these will change (except the hotdogs, who puts banana peppers on a hot dog? really!?) Until then I will settle for being a tourist where I live. Next stop, the Lincoln Park Zoo.

Rooting against the Cubs? Boooooo

I agree with you about the chicago dogs though, to some extent. Banana peppers don't belong on anything, in my opinion.

It gets worse jeff. The recent aquisition of Jr, of whom Blythe and I are both fans, has us thinking we may be sox fans.

That is, until the inevitable injury. That trade was a head-scratcher...Griffey doesn't really have the range to play CF well anymore.

Also - Go Cubs Go! 11-4 win today

it's fun to be a tourist where you live. if you try too hard and shun all the fun things that tourists appreciate, you'll never get to do them, except for if you have company. especially if you know that you are only going to live in place X for a limited time...
